The Lyceum “Rosa-Gianturco” is situated in Potenza, the capital city of the Basilicata Region, in the south of Italy. The main aim of our Secondary School is to combine the humanistic and scientific cultural tradition with digital innovation and international experience. The school offers a wide range of curricular subjects as well as options. It provides four different programmes:
- HUMAN SCIENCES, whose core subjects deal with psychology, anthropology, sociology and pedagogy;
- HUMAN SCIENCES - ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL OPTION, which focuses on the relationship between social studies and economics;
- HUMAN SCIENCES & SPORTS, whose purpose is to promote sport and exercise, social inclusion and cohesion through sport as well as a healthy life style;
- STEM & SPORTS whose goal is to apply scientific Knowledge to sport.
The purpose of our Lyceum is to provide students with suitable tools and skills to face the global challenges boosting, in the meanwhile, the pupils’ bio-physical and emotional dimension. Moreover, that is fostered by the core school subjects such as Italian, Maths, English and Biology as well as human sciences and sport. In addition, our Lyceum organises extra-curricular classes opened to all students, which aim at improving Foreign Languages skills and Digital ones. The school has its own sport club and athletes take part in local and
national competitions. The school community is made up of 995 students (grade 9 -13) and 97 teaching staff units. Our teachers are qualified and experienced, many of them have been involved in local, national and European mobility projects.
