
OUTCOMES AND ANALYSIS OF THE SELF-ASSESSMENT QUESTIONNAIRE - ARE YOU A GREENER PERSON NOW?

The questionnaire is designed by the project team as a qualitative indicator to measure the project impact on the participants' environmental awareness and contribution at the end of the first year of project implementation.
OUTCOMES AND ANALYSIS
- PARTICIPANTS
The questionnaire was completed in the end of the first project year by 428 participants from the partner countries as follows:
- Bulgaria – 56 – 13,1%
- Greece – 85 – 19,9%
- Italy – 34 – 7,9%
- Portugal – 55 – 12,9%
- Romania – 113 – 26,4 %
- Turkey – 85 – 19,9 %
88 - 20,6% participants are aged between 11-14. The age group 15-18 prevails 286 - 67%. In total the questionnaire was applied to 366 students - 85,5% and 61 – 14,3% adults, most of which teachers – 50.
- ATTITUDES TO ENVIRONMENT
312 - 73,1% participants confessed that Nature is our mother and we cannot live without it while 252 said they are happy among Nature in the first questionnaire.Only 31 - 7,3% now state that Nature resources should be used for better lives vs. 84 participants have a consumer attitude stating that Nature resources should be used for better lives /decrease with 53/.
Regarding connection with Nature, 210 say they often go for a walk in parks and natural surroundings - 49,1%; another 119 - 27,8% prefer holidays where they can enjoy Nature and 51 - 11,9% visit Natural reserves and protected areas. In total 379 participants show strong trend to have lifestyles related to Nature.
186 - 43,5% consider themselves “green” people and always try to do their best to help the environment. Another 119 - 27,8% say they generally practice green habits in their everyday lives. It means a steady number of 305 - 71,3% participants not only are aware of the environmental issues, but they have already developed an active attitude and protective behaviour.
The great majority of participants – 322 - 75,2% are convinced that everyone can regularly do small things /191 in the beginning/to save the Nature and should take care of the environment in their everyday lives.
- PROJECT IMPACT
While in the beginning most participants were aware of the main environmental problems, a year later all participants declared they learned more about the environment protection through the project– /more than 1 answer/. Their expectations about new skills, personal development and intercultural communication were fully fulfilled:

- GREEN HABITS /more than 1 answer/
4.1 The survey shows that participants are not only familiar with the concrete steps of the green behavior but also there is a steady trend to practice them regularly at home and school. The most practiced green habit at home is to keep the area clean – 360, followed by saving resources – 316, 280 – collect rubbish separately, 194 – use biodegradable bags and plastic things, 257 – use public transport, walk or cycle.
4.2 At schools the systems for green behavior became more consistent and activities are held on a regular basis. Activities that are stated as regular by participants:

246 vs. 150 – use more digital documents, textbooks etc. instead of printed copies.
